The Asian Fisheries Society has elected a new set of Councilors to serve in the 13th AFS Council (2019 -2022) during the 13th General Assembly on 10 April 2019, held at the Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City, Philippines.
Prof. Alice Joan G. Ferrer, PhD of the University of the Philippines Visayas was confirmed as President of the 13th AFS Council during the General Assembly. Dr. Ferrer has served AFS as Councilor and Vice President in the 11th AFS Council (2013-2016), and Vice President in the 12th AFS Council (2016-2019).
During the 53rd AFS Council meeting following the GA, the rest of the officers were elected by the 13th AFS Council.
