Professor Emeritus Neil Loneragan is a Professor of Marine Ecology and Conservation at Murdoch University, Western Australia and prior to this was the Inaugural Chair of Fisheries Science, Leader of the Environmental and Conservation Sciences at Murdoch University and Chaired the board of the Asia Research Centre at Murdoch. He has research interests in fish and invertebrate ecology, estuarine and marine food webs, stock enhancement and small-scale fisheries and supervises graduate research students in these areas. Before joining Murdoch, he spent 14 years with CSIRO, based in Brisbane working on prawn fisheries and habitats in northern Australia and through Southeast Asia. He is an adjunct Professor at IPB University in Bogor Indonesia, where together with Dr Adrian Hordyk and Indonesian collaborators, particularly Dr Budy Wiryawan, ran workshops on Fisheries Science and Management Strategy Evaluation for Data-limited Fisheries (https://researchrepository.murdoch.edu.au/id/eprint/60810/). He has been a member of the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS) since 2004 and on the AFS Council from 2011 to 2016 and from 2019 onwards. He organized a major international conference (ISSESR4) in collaboration with AFS as part of the 4th Asian Fisheries Forum in Shanghai in 2011. He is the nominated incoming President of AFS for the 14th AFS Council from 2022 to 2025.

Dr. Alice Joan G. Ferrer is a Professor and a Scientist from the Division of Social Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas. She has completed local and international research projects covering a wide range of areas such as Fisheries Social Science, Fisheries Management, Mariculture, Fishery Governance, Health Policy Analysis, Environmental Policy Analysis, Peace and Conflict, Gender and Sexuality, among others. She has a number of articles published in journal indexed in WoS and Scopus and authored chapters in book of international circulation and a book on disused area reversion to mangrove forest. She has received various awards for teaching, conducting research, and conducting public service. Dr. Ferrer also holds important positions in local and international organizations. She is also the Coordinator of the Asian Fisheries Social Science Research Network (2016 to present), Constitution Coordinator of Gender in Aquaculture and Fisheries Section of AFS (2017 to present), National Deputy Director of the Economy and Environment Group Philippines (2015 to present), and the Executive Director of the Western Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium of the DOST-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (2011 to present). Dr. Ferrer earned her BA Economics-Psychology from University of the Philippines Visayas and her Masters and PhD (Economics) degrees from the School of Economics, University of the Philippines.

Wilfredo L. Campos is a marine biologist with interests in biological oceanography, coastal ecology, fisheries biology, marine protected areas and fisheries management. He holds an MS in Marine Biology from the Rosentiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science of the University of Miami (1985) and a Doctor of Natural Sciences in Marine Biology from the University of Hamburg (1996). He has authored 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals, conducted over 50 researches in various aspects of marine biology and fisheries and served in committees of over 50 MS and PhD graduates. He is currently a Professor at the Division of Biological Sciences, College of Arts & Sciences of the University of the Philippines Visayas which he joined in 1996, and heads the UPV OceanBio Lab.

Murni Marlina Abd Karim is currently a Professor in the Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She obtained her first degree in Microbiology and Master in Aquatic Biotechnology from UPM. In December 2012, she came back from United States with PhD in Environmental Science majoring in Aquatic Pathology awarded by the University of Rhode Island, United States. She is also a CEO@Faculty fellow under CEO@Faculty Programme which has been appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. Under the programme, she is attached with the Chairman of Agrobank, Malaysia.
She specializes in fish and shellfish disease and her research interest include; discovering disease control tools and prevention strategies through development of probiotics, understanding the host-microbial interaction and management of waste using beneficial microbes.
Being a researcher, she has published numerous journal articles and proceedings, attended international and national conferences, seminars and workshops and involved in consultation projects. With 7 years of working experience, she has 3 PhD and 4 Master students graduated under her supervision. She is currently supervising 3 PhD and 3 Master students as a principal supervisor and co-supervising 13 postgraduate students.

Dr. Leena Wong is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and an associate researcher at the International Institute of Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences (I-AQUAS), UPM. She obtained her Bachelor degree (Environmental Biology) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and later graduated with a Master degree in Marine Science from the same university. She later pursued her PhD in UPM and received her degree in Marine Ecology and Biodiversity with her research focus in bivalve ecology and aquaculture. Her research area including marine ecology and biodiversity, aquaculture (specifically on mollusc culture), and she has a keen interest in mollusc taxonomy. She has been actively participating in research collaborations with industry partners in larviculture, and was appointed as PI since 2015 for a 5-years coastal monitoring project overseeing the ecological status of benthic invertebrate affected by anthropogenic stresses.

Dr. Jin-Long Yang is a Professor and Deputy Dean of the College of Fisheries and Life Science, Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU), China. He received the B.S. and M.S. in Marine Fisheries from the Dalian Fisheries College, China, and a Ph.D. in Marine Science and Technology from Nagasaki University, Japan. He joined SHOU in 2009. The research in his laboratory focuses on the interaction among marine molluscs, biofilm and marine environments. He studies two areas: (i) the molecular mechanism of biofilms and receptor genes regulating mussel larval settlement; and (ii) the effect of environmental stress on microbiome, development and immunity in marine bivalves. Now, he is Committee Member of The China Society of Fisheries (CSF), Vice Chair of Marine Culture Committee of CSF and Member of Microbial Ecology Committee of Ecology Society of China. He was elected as the Shanghai Chenguang Scholar in 2009, and the Shanghai Rising-Star Scholar in 2010. He was elected as Excellent Youth in Field of Marine science, State Oceanic Administration, China in 2015. He was the recipient of 15th Fok Ying Tong Education Foundation for Young Teachers in Higher Education Institutions of China, Ministry of Education, P. R. China in 2016.

Dr. Liping LIU is professor at College of Fisheries and Life Science, Shanghai Ocean University, China, with about 20 years of experience on aquaculture. He has been an active researcher on international cooperation with over 20 partner institutes and NGOs in Asia, EU, USA and Africa. Dr. Liu was a member of Executive Advisory Council of APC World Aquaculture Society, and associate editor of Frontiers in Marine Science. He also acts as member of external Program Advisory Council for the AquaFish Innovation Lab funded by USAID. His major research interests are interaction of aquaculture and environment, and fish reproduction physiology. He has published over 70 articles and worked in aquaculture education for over 10 years. He has recently coordinated research projects between the Shanghai Ocean University and a range of partners in UK, South and Southeast Asia, with both EU FP7 and NSFC funding. Currently, he is PI for the project “China-ASEAN Joint Center for Research and Promotion of Marine Aquaculture Technology” which is funded by the China-ASEAN Marinetime Silk Road Fund on behalf of Shanghai Ocean University.

Dr. Hong-Thih Lai is professor of the Department of Aquatic Biosciences, National Chiayi University (NCYU), Taiwan. He received his Ph.D. in Agriculture in 1999 and M.S. in Fisheries Science in 1987 from the National Taiwan Ocean University. His research interests are major in water and sediment of management in aquaculture, pharmaceutical residues in aquatic environment, aquatic toxicology, and restoration of endangered freshwater fish. He is the vice chairman of The Asian Fisheries Society Taiwan Branch, and board director of the Taiwan Society for Microbial Ecology (TSEM). He was scientific commissioner of Challenges in Environmental Science & Engineering and secretary general of TSME. Dr. Lai has published over 50 research papers in national and international journals. In addition to his academic duties, he has served as the Chair of the Department of Aquatic Biosciences in NCYU from 2015 to 2017.

Dr. Han-Jia Lin is a Distinguished Professor at National Taiwan Ocean University. President of Asian Fishery Society Taiwan Branch since 2019. Dr. Lin received his bachelor's degree in agriculture from Taiwan University in 1994, majoring in agricultural chemistry. In 1996 and 2001, he obtained a master's degree and a Ph.D degree from the Institute of Biochemical Sciences, National Taiwan University, respectively. Afterwards, he also worked in the Institute of Biological Chemistry of Academia Sinica and Osaka University in Japan as a postdoctoral fellow. Since 2006, he established his marine biotechnology laboratory in Department of Bioscience and Biotechnology, National Taiwan Ocean University, where he had also served as head of the department. Professor Han-Jia Lin's researches focus on solving the problems in aquaculture by using cross-disciplinary technologies, including molecular biology, biochemistry and nanotechnology. Many works related to basic physiology and applications have been studied in aquacultural species, such as diatoms, marine ciliates, fishes and shrimps. Recently, researches on therapeutic carbon nanomaterials have been considered as highly potential antibiotic alternatives to solve the antibiotic abuse problem in aquaculture. Many advanced research works have been published in high ranking journals and actually applied in the industry. Therefore, Dr. Lin has been awarded many important invention awards, including 2021 Taipei Biotech Award and 2020 Futex award.

Dr. Ravishankar, C.N is presently working as Director and Vice Chancellor of ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, under ICAR, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India. He has Bachelor Degree in Fisheries Sciences; Post-graduation in Industrial Fishery Technology and Ph.D in Fish Processing Technology from University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. He has successfully completed international certification courses like ‘Managing Sustainable Projects and Programmes’ from University of Bradford, United Kingdom and Course on HACCP from Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene, London, UK. He has over 35 years of experience in food science research, post-harvest fisheries technologies, food safety, technology commercialization and business incubation. Handled many International and National Research projects and has participated in the First Indian Antarctic Expedition. Successfully established India’s first Fisheries Business Incubation Centre and supported more than 65 entrepreneurs in setting up new business ventures. Published 180 research papers in peer reviewed journals, 78 book chapters, 54 technical articles, authored/edited 11 books; Guided 8 PhD and 30 for masters students. He is the Fellow of NAAS, AFSTI, SOFTI and KSTA and received many awards for his contribution in the field of Fisheries Harvest and Post-Harvest technologies. He is the Chair of Scientific panel on Fish and Fish Products, FSSAI, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India; Nodal Authority for developing Approved Standard Deep Sea Fishing vessel Design and Specification, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and waterways, GoI; Committee for drafting National Policy on Post-Harvest Processing and Marketing of Fish and Fishery Products, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, GoI. Dr Kuldeep K Lal, is the Director of ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resource, Lucknow, India. Before joining as Director, He worked with Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia Pacific (NACA) at Bangkok, Thailand for two years as Coordinator, Genetics and Biodiversity Program. In his carreer, under Agricultural Research Services, he has worked at various research positions and Head, Fish Conservation Division, at ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, India benefit sharing. He is life member of the Asian Fisheries Society. He is a member of COFI advisory working group on AqGR of FAO, Rome. He is associated with various consultative bodies under Department of Fisheries, National Biodiversity Authority, Deep Sea Mission and others, under Government of India related to fish genetic resources, agrobiodiversity and access . His research interest include conservation genetics and aquatic genetic resource management. During 30 years of research career, he has extensively worked on exploration of fish genetic resources, genetic stock identification of wild relatives of aquaculture species and long-term sperm- cryopreservation protocol development and work strategy for commercial level use of the cryopreservation technology in quality carp seed production. He is working to establish model of conservation of indigenous germplasm and harmonizing with livelihood for native coastal and island communities. He has published 146 research papers in peer-reviewed impact journals and guided six PhD students. He has discovered and published 13 fish/shellfish species, new to science or new distribution records, from India.

Prof. Ikuo Hirono obtained his PhD from Kagoshima University in 1993, did a postdoctoral fellowship (JSPS) at Tokyo University of Fisheries in 1993-1994 and was a research scholar at Hopkins Marine Station, Stanford University in 1998. He was Assistant Professor, Tokyo University of Fisheries from 1994-2002, and Associate Professor, Tokyo University of Fisheries, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology from 2002-2009. He is a Professor, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology from 2009. He is a co-editor in chief of Fish and Shellfish Immunology and editorial board members of several international journals. He has over 390 publications in several international journals. His main research area is shrimp immune system and development of fish DNA vaccines. He has/had many of students from Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, India, South Korea, China, Egypt, Columbia, so on. He has/had many of international research collaborations under governments.

Indah Susilowati is a professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Semarang–Indonesia. Expertise: Resource & Environmental Economics/ Coastal Resource Management/ Community & Gender Empowerment/ Community Development. She was the head of Research Institute of UNDIP and now she is the Chair of Human Resource Development Commission of Academic Senate-UNDIP. She is engaged as expert of Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Degree, the Government of Indonesia in the Directorate of: Research, Carrier and Competence, Institutions (for Establishing Study Program), Publication as reviewer since 2005. She also provides consultancy services to several Local Governments and institutions in the region. She is a member of Asian Fisheries Society (AFS) and International Institute of Fisheries Economic and Trade (IIFET). Professor Susilowati has been involved in several of the Asian Fisheries Society’s Gender in Aquaculture and Fisheries symposia and has promoted the attendance and presentations by her students. She was a member of the Organising Committees of GAF-AFS. She has high commitment in advocating the green environment, fisheries management and conflict resolution to the competent communities or stakeholders. She completed her Master and Ph.D. programs in resource economics from the Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Her dissertation (1998) entitled “Economics of Regulatory Compliance with Fisheries Regulation in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines”. She did thesis (1991) entitled :Welfare Impact of Improved Boat Modernisation (IBMS) in Pemalang Regency, Central Java, Indonesia”. Her B.Sc. was pursued in the Faculty of Economics; UNDIP where she is attached now. She had has presented and published papers in national and international forum.
Prof. Budy Wiryawan

Budy Wiryawan was born in Tegal, Indonesia on 23 December 1962. He was a head of Department for Marine Fisheries in the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences from 2009-2017. He completed his PhD in Biological Oceanography from Kiel University, Germany in 1997. Before, he completed his Master degree in Coastal Management from University of Newcastle upon Tyne UK in 1990, while in 1989 certified in Diploma of Fisheries Management from Humberside Polytechnic, UK. He has been certified as EIA Compiler and Coastal Management Expert by Indonesia Coastal Management Expert Association/HAPPI). Before, he experienced for numbers of large scale of fisheries, coastal management and marine conservation programs, including the ADB funded COREMAP Phase II Project (2005-2007) as Marine Management Area and Environmental Specialist. He appointed as Marine Program Manager for The Nature Conservancy in East Kalimantan (2003-2004), and USAID funded Coastal Resource Management Project in in East Kalimantan (2004-2005) as Technical Advisor. He was a member for Jakarta Bay Environmental Assessment, and some of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) funded by Danish Embassy and Ministry of Environment and Forestry during 2010-2012. He appointed also an Evaluator for Impact Evaluation of Marine Resource Projects funded by USAID in Indonesia in 2014, while in 2015 he appointed by World Bank as an Evaluator for COREMAP II project implementation. Until February 2018, he lead some Environmental Strategic Impact Assessment capacity building project funded by DANIDA for Local Government Planning (SEA of Regional Development Plan and Spatial Planning) for some Regencies. In 2019-2022, he has been appointed as a Technical Advisor for Marine Protected Area (MPA) by Wildlife Conservation Society and a member of National Evaluator for MPA Effectiveness under Ministry of Marine Affair and Fisheries. His professional experience lies predominantly with coastal resource management, capture fisheries and conservation, and he's had extensive experience in planning, managing and executing marine research programs.
